Amphora, unknown Egyptian workshop. Amphora with a spindle-shaped belly, fluted walls, and a pointed tip. Narrow neck with a reflected rim, elongated and flowing into sloping shoulders. Two cylindrical handles attached to the neck and shoulders. A hole for wine fermentation drilled in the neck. Interior impregnated with resin. Outer surface light brown and smooth; ribbed belly. Made of light brown alluvial Nile clay Naqlun AC1C ceramic fabric. Function: storage vessel Coptic amphora. Dated 5th–7th century. Findspot: Naqlun. Height 56.6+ cm preserved; neck diameter 6.5 cm; body diameter 20.2 cm., A top-down view of a round clay vessel with a central circular opening and a pronounced handle-like ridge running across its diameter; the vessel shows concentric rings and a textured surface with small pits and irregularities. The colors visible are shades of brown on the vessel and shades of gray in the background.
