Lekythos with a sphinx, unknown Attic workshop. A small Attic red-figure lekythos with a vise. The neck of the vessel is narrow. The belly is round, mounted on a round foot. The central part of the front side of the belly is decorated with an image of a sphinx. The back of the vessel has worn finials. 1st half of the 4th century BC, Attica. Vessel; ceramics; Greek ceramics; sphinx mythological/iconographic. Height 9.4 cm, diameter 6 cm., A small rounded ceramic vessel with a narrow neck, flared rim, and single curved handle, showing areas of wear and chipped edges; its surface features a painted animal motif with the body and legs rendered in a tan color against a black background, with speckled and worn black and tan patches across the vessel, and a pale rim and base edge revealing the underlying clay color.
