Lekythos with a sphinx, unknown Attic workshop. A small Attic red-figure lekythos with a narrow neck, round belly and round foot. The central part of the front of the belly is decorated with an image of a sphinx; the back has worn finials. 1st half of the 4th century BC, Attica. Vessel; ceramics; height 9.4 cm, diameter 6 cm., A small rounded ceramic vessel with a narrow neck, flared rim, and a curved handle, showing worn and flaking surfaces; the main visible colors are black and terracotta brown with areas of lighter beige where material has chipped away; there is a circular hole on one side of the body and faint traces of painted decoration on the darker areas; the base is a terracotta brown ring and the overall surface shows mottled patches of the two main colors.
