Lekythos with a sphinx, unknown Attic workshop. A small Attic red-figure lekythos with a vise. The neck of the vessel is narrow. The belly is round, mounted on a round foot. The central part of the front side of the belly is decorated with an image of a sphinx. The back of the vessel has worn finials. 1st half of the 4th century BC, Attica. Vessel; height 9.4 cm, diameter 6 cm. Materials: ceramics; subject/iconography: sphinx., A worn ceramic vessel with a rounded body, narrow neck, and flared rim, showing a rough, pitted surface and irregular patches where a dark coating has peeled away; the form includes a single handle attaching the neck to the shoulder and a raised circular base. The visible colors are earthy brown, dark black, and lighter beige-gray areas where the surface is abraded.
