Lekythos with a sphinx, unknown Attic workshop. A small Attic red-figure lekythos. The vessel has a narrow neck, a rounded belly on a circular foot. The central part of the front belly is decorated with an image of a sphinx; the back has worn finials. Ceramic, Greek, 1st half of the 4th century BC, Attica. Height 9.4 cm, diameter 6 cm., An ancient ceramic jug with a rounded body, narrow neck, flared rim, and a single curved handle, showing worn black and terracotta surfaces; the jug's black painted areas are chipped and speckled, revealing terracotta beneath, and a stylized animal motif in terracotta is visible on one side; there is a circular hole on the body opposite the decoration, and the handle and rim display heavy wear with patches of black and terracotta; the overall colors visible are black and terracotta against a neutral gray background.
