Lekythos with a sphinx. Small Attic red-figure lekythos, 1st half of the 4th century BC, attributed to an unknown Attic workshop. Ceramic vessel: narrow neck, round belly on a round foot. Front belly decorated with an image of a sphinx; back has worn finials. Height 9.4 cm, diameter 6 cm., An ancient-style rounded vessel with a narrow neck and flared rim, featuring a single arched handle, shown against a plain light background; the surface displays worn black slip with exposed terracotta in a few areas and a painted terracotta-colored animal figure wrapping around the body, along with scattered flaking and speckling of the black surface, and a visible rounded hole on the side.
