Wall painting. Tree and human figure in flames, Nubian workshop, wall paintings, tree iconographic, Polish excavations in Faras Sudan, yellow trunk, branches covered with dark green, brown, and red leaves and white round fruit. On one of the branches hangs a yellow vessel decorated with red stripes fragmentarily preserved. Under the tree are visible red flames, from which a yellow human head emerges. The painting was located immediately adjacent to the depiction of the anchorite Melas, painted on the left side of a composition showing Bishop Marianos with Christ and Hodegetria. Its fragmentary state of preservation does not allow for the unambiguous determination whether it belongs to a composition depicting the anchorite.
