Lamp decorated with a depiction of a gladiator so-called Samnite, unknown Roman workshop; oil lamp; single-burner lamp; lighting; gladiators iconography; 2nd half of the 2nd century; Roman Empire 27 BC–476; weight 0.078 kg., A shallow, elongated clay vessel with a rounded body and a pointed end, shown in profile against a neutral background; the surface is rough and matte with worn patches and irregular darker areas; the overall color is a warm terracotta brown with spots of darker brown and some muted gray-green discoloration; the rim is slightly raised at one end forming a small upward projection and the base is flat enough for the object to sit level.
