Honorific inscription of Theagenes, son of Theon, Greek inscriptions, marble block covered with a pink patina, fragmentarily preserved. Only the top edge is original. 5 lines of Greek text visible. 115–110 BC, Egypt, Pharbaitos, inscription Greek. Height 15.2 cm, width 21 cm, depth 8 cm, weight 3.70 kg., A roughly triangular fragment of stone with a textured, weathered surface sits against a plain gray background; the stone shows a range of colors including beige, tan, light brown, reddish-brown, and hints of pale cream, with areas of smoother, worn faces and rougher, jagged edges. The front face is flat and slightly angled, displaying shallow, incised markings arranged in several horizontal lines, while the opposite side is more irregular and uneven. The stone’s surface has subtle variations in tone and small pits and scratches, and the base rests on the surface casting a soft shadow. The overall appearance conveys an aged, natural piece of rock with carved linear impressions and a warm, earthy color palette.
