Lamp decorated with a representation of the goddess Roma with an eagle and a palm branch; at the goddess's foot a burning altar and a crab. 2nd century, Carthage Tunisia. Oil lamp, weight 0.152 kg. Single-burner lamp, Roman deities., A round terracotta object with a spout and a rounded pouring lip, shown against a gray background; the surface is reddish-brown with variations of darker brown and small worn areas, and there is a shallow circular recessed panel on top containing a low-relief depiction of a standing figure holding a staff and wearing draped clothing, with a smaller object beside the figure and a group of rounded holes puncturing the panel, plus a few small raised bumps and subtle tool marks on the textured surface.
