Cylinder seal with a mythological scene, unknown Cypriot workshop. Mythological scene depicting two human figures dressed in long, crosswise pleated robes, standing opposite a winged lion standing on its back. The first figure holds the lowered left front paw of the lion with its outstretched right hand; its left hand is lowered. The second figure, standing behind the first, holds a four-legged animal hanging upside down by its hind legs in its right hand; its left hand is lowered and extended towards the lion's hind legs. The animal is squeezed into a narrow space between the standing figures. Fantasy creatures; winged lions; Eastern Gallic scene. Seal; Cyprus, Near East; Late Bronze Period, 14th century BC previously dated 15th–14th century BC. Height 2.55 cm, width 1 cm., A rectangular reddish-brown clay or terracotta relief with uneven, textured surface and shallow carved impressions suggesting outlines of figures and abstract shapes, set against a plain neutral gray background; the relief shows variations in reddish-brown tones with some darker and lighter patches and small pits and rough edges along its borders.
