Cylinder seal with a mythological scene, unknown Cypriot workshop; mythological scene depicting two human figures dressed in long, crosswise pleated robes, standing opposite a winged lion standing on its back. The first figure holds the lowered left front paw of the lion with its outstretched right hand; its left hand is lowered. The second figure, standing behind the first, holds a four-legged animal hanging upside down by its hind legs in its right hand; its left hand is lowered and extended towards the lion's hind legs. The animal is squeezed into a narrow space between the standing figures. Fantasy creatures, winged lions. 14th century BC; Late Bronze Period previously dated 15th–14th century BC. Near East, Cyprus. Seal; height 2.55 cm, width 1 cm., A dark cylindrical stone object with a slightly irregular, worn surface set against a neutral gray background, showing a carved vertical motif resembling an abstract figure with rounded upper forms and a recessed central area with horizontal grooves; the stone is predominantly black with areas of dark gray, small pale flecks, and subtle brownish spots, and has a slightly glossy, polished appearance in places.
