Brick with an inscription of King Shalmaneser III, Shalmaneser III 858–824 BC Shulmanu-ašared, king of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. Calah Iraq, the ziggurat at Kalhu Nimrud. Square brick with cuneiform inscription: the upper surface is inscribed over almost its entire surface with seven lines of carefully impressed cuneiform characters. Sand-colored clay, one edge burnt to black. Date: 858–824 BC. Place of origin: Kalhu Nimrud. Material: brick. Weight 20.97 kg; width 35 cm; length 35 cm; thickness 12 cm., A roughly square, flat object with a textured, worn surface in shades of beige, tan, and light brown, showing irregular pits, small cracks, and rough patches; the edges are rounded and slightly darker, with a darker border along the bottom edge that appears smudged in shades of gray and black; the background behind the object is a smooth, neutral gray.
