Brick with an inscription of King Shalmaneser III, Shalmaneser III 858–824 BC author Shulmanu-ašared, king of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, Calah Iraq capital of the Neo-Assyrian state, the ziggurat at Kalhu commonly known as Nimrud, bricks with cuneiform inscription. Square brick. The upper surface is inscribed over almost its entire surface with seven lines of carefully impressed cuneiform characters. Sand-colored clay, one edge burnt to black. 858–824 BC. Kalhu place of origin, Nimrud place of finding. Brick; weight 20.97 kg; width 35 cm; length 35 cm; thickness 12 cm., A square, flat clay tablet with incised markings across its surface sits against a neutral gray background; the tablet is a pale beige to light tan color with subtle variations and a few darker smudges near its bottom edge, and its edges are slightly rounded and chipped in places; the incisions form repeated angular, wedge-shaped impressions that create a dense pattern across the face, with some shallow depressions and small pits in the clay giving a slightly rough texture; overall the image shows earthy beige and light tan tones with gray in the background and faint darker brown spots on the tablet.
