The rim of the vessel is decorated with a radial ornament and a schematic ivy sprig. On the shoulders are a series of vertical lines. The belly is decorated with figural scenes. On side A, Dionysus with a cornucopia accompanied by a satyr and a maenad. On side B, an archer shown between two helmeted hoplites with round shields. A lid with a pomegranate-shaped handle, decorated with an ivy sprig placed on the rim. 520–510 BC, Attica. Vessel, column krater. Weight 1.382 kg; diameter 19.2 cm 22.5 cm with vices; height 21.4 cm 22.6 cm with vices., An ancient ceramic vessel with a rounded body, a flared rim, and two horizontal handles, shown against a neutral gray background. The vessel's surface displays a warm terracotta base color with areas of black painted decoration; the interior and rim area are predominantly black with speckled wear, while the exterior features black-figure silhouettes of human figures and shields around the body. The rim has a patterned band in black and terracotta, and the foot and lower shoulder show alternating black and terracotta markings and wear. The handles are a mix of terracotta and black paint with visible chips and flaked areas. Overall the colors visible are terracotta, black, and small areas of lighter worn spots.
