Column krater with lid, unknown Attic workshop, Black-figure krater with lid. Red clay, tinted with ochre. Black firnis with a muted lustre, fading to brown in places. The rim of the vessel is decorated with a radial ornament and a schematic ivy sprig. On the shoulders are a series of vertical lines. The belly is decorated with figural scenes. On side A, Dionysus with a cornucopia is visible, accompanied by a Satyr and a Maenad. On side B an archer is shown between two helmeted hoplites with round shields. A lid with a pomegranate-shaped handle, decorated with an ivy sprig placed on the rim. 520–510 BC, Attica. Vessel: column krater. Weight 1.382 kg; diameter 19.2 cm 22.5 cm with vices; height 21.4 cm 22.6 cm with vices., An earthenware vessel with a lid, shown against a plain gray background, featuring a rounded body, a flared rim with a flat lid topped by a small knob, and a short pedestal base; the vessel displays a worn painted decoration in shades of orange, terracotta, black, and brown with areas of lighter cream where the surface is exposed, a few black painted handles attached beneath the rim, and several stylized black-painted figures and circular motifs on the body, with bands of black and terracotta around the neck and base and visible surface scratches and chips.
