Fragment of a necklace, unknown northern Mesopotamian workshop, jewellery, Early Jazira III / Early Dynastic III period ca. 2600–2350 BC, composed of four shells: one Muricidae shell and three striped Engina mendicaria Bucinidae shells, shells ground on the surface of the lower whorl opposite the hole to obtain a stringing hole; decoration; Al-Jazira Khabur basin, northern Mesopotamia, Tell Rad Shakra northeastern Syria, excavated., A group of several irregularly shaped seashell fragments suspended against a flat gray background, showing rough, porous textures and worn edges; the shells are predominantly off-white and beige with areas of light brown and pale tan, and display cavities, ridges, and small pitted holes with shadows that emphasize their three-dimensional forms.
