Awl, Early Jazira III / Early Dynastic III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC; elongated awl, triangularly sharpened at one end; material: bone tool; function: awl; provenance/origin: Northern Mesopotamia, Al-Jazira Khabur basin, Tell Rad Shakra northeastern Syria; dimensions: height 8.5 cm, width 1.5 cm., A slender, tapered cylindrical object with a rounded blunt end and a pointed tip lies horizontally against a solid gray background; the object's surface is primarily beige with areas of light tan and subtle brown discoloration, showing a weathered, slightly rough texture with small scratches and shallow grooves, and a few darker brown spots near the blunt end.
