Kitchen pot, unknown northern Mesopotamian workshop; kitchen vessels. A kitchen pot with an egg-shaped belly with a rounded bottom, slightly inward-sloping walls, terminating at the top in a rim, diagonally cut inward. A few centimeters below the rim, four symmetrically placed horizontal crescent-shaped handles are attached. The outer walls are intentionally roughened at the bottom up to 2/3 of the vessel's height, while polished above. The roughened part of the vessel is heavily sooted. The fabric contains a rich admixture of crushed quartz. 1st half of the 3rd millennium BC; Early Jazira III period. Tell Rad Shakra northeastern Syria. Northern Mesopotamia place of manufacture. Vessel; height 23.5 cm, width 25.3 cm, weight 2.6 kg., A rounded, earthen vessel with a wide opening and a thick rim sits against a pale gray background; the pot displays a textured surface with a mottled palette of brown, tan, beige, and darker brown patches, showing areas of wear and irregular discoloration, a few small protrusions on its upper sides, visible cracks and roughened spots, and a darker band of mottling around the lower portion, all resting on a translucent support that is partly visible beneath.
