Kitchen pot, unknown northern Mesopotamian workshop; kitchen vessels. A kitchen pot with an egg-shaped belly with a rounded bottom, slightly inward-sloping walls, terminating at the top in a diagonally cut inward rim. A few centimeters below the rim four symmetrically placed horizontal crescent-shaped handles are attached. The outer walls are intentionally roughened at the bottom up to 2/3 of the vessel's height and polished above; the roughened part is heavily sooted. The fabric contains a rich admixture of crushed quartz. 1st half of the 3rd millennium BC; Early Jazira III period. Findspot: Tell Rad Shakra northeastern Syria. Northern Mesopotamia place of manufacture. Vessel. Height 23.5 cm; width 25.3 cm; weight 2.6 kg., A rounded, weathered pot sits against a plain light gray background, showing a textured surface with a mottled pattern of tan, brown, and darker brown areas; the pot has an uneven rim and a small protrusion on one side, with visible cracks and repaired seams across its surface and a rough, slightly darker base resting on a translucent stand.
