Vessel, unknown Northern Mesopotamian workshop, Early Jazira III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC, metallic ware; spherical low vessel with a rounded bottom and low, wide neck with a narrow, upturned spout. The vessel was carefully smoothed and fired in a reduction atmosphere. Syria, Tell Rad Shakra Khabur basin, Northeastern Syria; Northern Mesopotamia place of production. Function: vessels for oils and ointments; vice-free spherical vessel. Height 9.4 cm; width 9.7 cm., A round pottery vessel viewed from above with a wide circular opening revealing a deep dark interior, the vessel surface showing a weathered, rough texture with visible cracks and repaired seams; the pottery exhibits tones of brown, tan, and gray against a muted gray background.
