Roman statue, unknown Roman workshop. Figure of a striding man dressed in a tunic and toga. The folds of the toga flow widely, with a slit at the left leg. The head is a large addition, with closely cropped hair and beard carved with short cuts of a pointed chisel. The face, with prominent jaws, tight mouth, and drawn eyebrows, is characterized by a stern expression. The pupils are marked. Profiled base, rectangular at the front, with rounded side edges behind the back of the figure. 2nd–3rd century torso 2nd century AD; head late 3rd century AD; earlier dating 1st–2nd century AD. Roman Empire 27 BC–476. Sculpture. Weight 928 kg., The image shows a close-up of a carved stone surface with draped folds resembling fabric, displaying a smooth pale off-white to cream color with subtle warm beige and light brown discolorations and some darker grayish smudges; the carved folds create deep shadows and rounded ridges, and the right edge transitions to a rougher, broken texture with jagged protrusions against a flat dark gray background.
