Roman statue, unknown Roman workshop. Figure of a striding man dressed in a tunic and toga. The folds of the toga flow widely, a slit at the left leg. The head is a large addition, with closely cropped hair and beard carved with short cuts of a pointed chisel. The face, with prominent jaws, tight mouth, and drawn eyebrows, is characterized by a stern expression. The pupils are marked. Profiled base, rectangular at the front, behind the back of the figure with rounded side edges. 2nd–3rd century torso 2nd century AD, head late 3rd century AD; earlier dating 1st–2nd century AD. Roman Empire 27 BC–476. Sculpture. Weight 928 kg., A white marble statue of a robed figure stands on a rectangular base against a gray background, showing draped fabric with flowing folds and layered textures over the shoulders, chest, and legs; the figure's right arm is extended outward with an open hand while the left arm is slightly bent holding a small cylindrical object, and the feet are bare with one foot slightly forward. The statue's facial features are carved with a neutral expression and short hair; the robe and cloak display detailed creases and knots, and there is a cylindrical support element beside the figure's left leg. The visible colors are white for the statue and base, gray for the background, and a darker gray tone on the lower edge of the base.
