Vessel with hieratic inscription, Egyptian pottery, ceramic conical vessel tapering towards the bottom, irregular, widest at approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim; pointed bottom. Handcrafted; upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Smooth surface, externally probably covered with a layer of engobe. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on lower part of the belly. Well preserved with slight damage to the rim. Analogies: Petrie, Dendera, Hope, Akhmim, Reisner, Brunton, Mace, Keiser et al.; earlier dated to the 4th–5th Dynasty; ca. 2686–ca. 2181 BC; Old Kingdom, Edfu. Dimensions: height 13.9 cm; lip diameter 5.9 cm; max diameter 8 cm., A single earthenware jar with a rounded body tapering to a pointed base, shown against a plain gray background. The vessel's surface is rough and pitted with visible irregularities and small indentations. The rim is slightly flared and the shoulder curves inward toward the neck. Colors visible include shades of brown and tan on the jar, with subtle darker brown spots and faint areas of grayish discoloration, set against a uniform light gray backdrop.
