Vessel with hieratic inscription. Egyptian pottery, clay conical vessel tapering toward the bottom, irregular, widest approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim; pointed bottom. Handmade, with upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Surface even, outer probably covered with engobe. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on lower part of the belly. Quite well preserved with minor rim damage. Analogies: examples published by Petrie, Hope, Reisner, Brunton, Mace, Keiser et al.; stylistically dated to the Old Kingdom ca. 2686–2181 BC. Findspot: Edfu. Dimensions: height 16.1 cm; rim diameter 6 cm; belly diameter 9 cm., A rounded clay vessel viewed from above with a wide dark opening, showing a textured surface in shades of tan, brown, and muted orange against a flat gray background.
