Vessel with hieratic inscription, Egyptian pottery conical clay vessel tapering toward the bottom, slightly irregular; widest at approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, widening rim; pointed bottom. Handcrafted; upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Around half the height a trace of joining of two separately made parts. Surface leveled, outer probably covered with a layer of engobe. Made of Nile clay Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on lower part of the belly. Rim damaged. Analogies cited; earlier dated to the 4th–5th Dynasty Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC. Find from Edfu. Dimensions: height 13.2 cm; rim dia. 5.8 cm; body dia. 8.3 cm., A single weathered clay vessel with an elongated, tapered body and a rounded shoulder, shown against a plain gray background; the vessel surface is rough and pitted with small holes and irregularities, and its color appears brown with variations including lighter tan and some pale grayish spots; the rim is slightly flared and uneven, and the overall shape narrows toward a pointed bottom.
