Scarab with the name Menkheperre. Protective amulet scarab with a decorated top engraved with a cartouche topped by two feathers containing the name Menkheperre i.e. Amun-Re. On the bottom of the scarab is another cartouche with the same name and two snakes turned inward. New Kingdom, c. 1550–c. 1069 BC; Western Thebes Valley of the Queens. Scarab amulet; height 3.8 cm, width 2.7 cm., A small, irregularly shaped object with a rounded, flattened form shown against a plain light gray background; the object has a weathered, layered surface with a mix of colors including brown, tan, beige, greenish-yellow, and dark brown spots, and displays grooves, cracks, and pitted areas along its edges and underside, with smoother, slightly shiny sections on the top and rougher, more textured areas along the bottom.
