Vessel, Egyptian pottery, ceramic clay vessel. A vessel with an almost spherical, slightly horizontally stretched shape, widest about half the height. Broad, sloping shoulders, very short neck. Rounded rim, oval in cross-section, slightly flaring. Rounded bottom. Horizontal cord impressions at the widest point of the vessel. NB2 clay Vienna System with a significant amount of organic admixture. Surface smooth. Made on a wheel; approximately half of its height was worked with a knife or similar tool. Colour beige. Very well preserved. Circa 2686–2181 BC Old Kingdom, Edfu. Height 28.5 cm; rim diameter 10.4 cm; body diameter 30.410 cm., A spherical object with a rough, uneven surface in shades of terracotta and light brown, showing darker brown speckles and small pits across its face, with a visible crack running along one side and a few circular grayish patches; the background is a smooth, neutral gray.
