Vessel, Egyptian pottery, ceramics, clay vessel. A vessel with an almost spherical, slightly horizontally stretched shape, widest about half the height. Broad, sloping shoulders, very short neck. Rounded rim, oval in cross-section, slightly flaring. Rounded bottom. Horizontal cord impressions at the widest point of the vessel. NB2 clay according to the Vienna System with a significant amount of organic admixture. The surface of the vessel is smooth. Made on a wheel; approximately half of its height was worked with a knife or similar tool. Colour beige. Very well preserved. Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–ca. 2181 BC; Edfu. Vessel, height 28.5 cm, rim diameter 10.4 cm, body diameter 30.4 cm., A large round clay pot with a short narrow neck and slightly flared rim fills the frame, showing a textured surface with a weathered, matte finish; the pot displays a range of earthy colors including terracotta, light brown, beige, pale gray, and hints of muted orange, with subtle patches and streaks of darker gray and lighter cream, small dark flecks and pitting across the surface, and faint horizontal ridges and irregular marks that suggest handcrafting.
