Vessel, Egyptian pottery vessel, handmade clay vessel. An almost cylindrical vessel, widest in its upper part just below the rim; rounded bottom; shoulders largely illegible; straight, slightly tapering rim. Handmade of Nile clay with numerous organic inclusions and limestone particles visible on the surface; carelessly made with uneven depressions, especially at the bottom; brown color; preserved though surface cracks result from careless kneading and firing. Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC; from Edfu. Height 37.9 cm; diameter 11.4 cm rim, 12.5 cm body., A vertical cylindrical object with an uneven, rough surface that appears handmade, shown against a plain neutral background; the surface shows many small pits, indentations, and irregularities with areas of slight bulging and depressions, and the top edge is uneven and slightly rounded while the bottom tapers and is more textured and rough; visible colors include shades of brown, light brown, reddish-brown, and small patches of pale gray.
