Vessel, Egyptian pottery, handmade clay vessel. An almost cylindrical vessel, widest in its upper part just below the straight, slightly tapering rim; rounded bottom; shoulders almost completely illegible. Made of Nile clay with numerous organic inclusions and limestone particles visible on the surface. Carelessly made, with numerous uneven depressions on the surface, especially at the bottom; brown in color; cracks on the surface resulting from workmanship and firing. Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC; from Edfu. Vessel; height 37.9 cm, diameter 11.4 cm rim, diameter 12.5 cm body., A vertical, cylindrical object with an uneven, rough surface that appears to be made of a porous, earthen material; the surface shows a variety of pits, grooves, and small cavities and has an irregular, slightly tapered form with a rounded bottom and a flatter top edge. The visible colors are shades of brown ranging from light tan to deeper reddish-brown, with small areas of darker brown and hints of muted gray; the background is a neutral light gray.
