Vessel, Egyptian ceramic vessel with an almost spherical belly, widest about 1/3 of the vessel's height; sloping shoulders; poorly defined, very short and wide neck; rounded, slightly flaring rim; rounded bottom. Made of Nile clay NB. Surface smooth; outer surface finished to about half its height with a knife or similar tool; a rather indistinct cord impression around the widest diameter of the belly. Light red color. Chipped rim and traces of salting over the surface. Comparative typology: Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC; provenance Edfu. Dimensions: height 24.9 cm; rim diameter 10.3 cm; body diameter 24.2 cm., A large round clay vessel with a narrow rim sits against a plain gray background; the vessel shows an uneven, weathered surface in shades of brown, tan, beige, and muted orange with patches of lighter off-white speckling, rough texture, small pits, and subtle horizontal striations.
