Vessel with hieratic inscription. Conical Nile-clay NB2 pottery vessel, tapering to a pointed bottom; irregular form, widest at roughly 3/4 of the height. Narrow, slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim. Handcrafted, with shoulders, neck, and rim turned. Smooth surface with probable engobe exterior. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on the lower belly. Good preservation with slight rim damage. Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BCE. Height 14.8 cm; rim diameter 5.8 cm; belly diameter 8.8 cm. Analogous examples cited in comparative literature; typologically related to vessels dated to the 4th–5th dynasties., A round, cone-topped object with a rough, pitted surface in shades of tan and light brown sits against a uniform medium gray background; the object shows small darker brown speckles and irregular markings, a few shallow pits and surface cracks, and areas of slightly darker brown discoloration.
