Vessel with hieratic inscription, Egyptian ceramic conical vessel clay, tapering to a pointed bottom, irregular; widest approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, only slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim. Handcrafted: upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Smooth surface, externally probably covered with engobe. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black oak on lower belly. Complete, well preserved. Old Kingdom, Edfu; height 12.5 cm, rim diameter 5.4 cm, belly diameter 8 cm. Comparative material: Petrie, Dendera pl. XLIII; Keiser et al., MDAIK 40 fig.9b — ca. 2686–2181 BC., A single large clay vessel with a rounded shoulder and a tapered base sits against a plain gray background; the pot has an open mouth with a slightly thickened rim and a textured, uneven surface showing roughness and small pits, with visible wear and small chips around the rim and body. The colors visible are various shades of brown and tan with subtle variations and hints of darker brown flecks and lighter beige areas. The form is roughly symmetrical but irregular, and the surface shows faint horizontal forming lines and scattered small abrasions.
