Vessel with hieratic inscription. Conical clay vessel tapering toward the bottom; irregular, widest at approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, only slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim; pointed bottom. Handcrafted β upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Smooth surface, externally probably covered with an engobe. In the widest part three shallow horizontal lines over approx. 0.8 cm. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black sht on the lower body. Vessel complete, well-preserved. Comparative parallels cited; earlier dated to the 4thβ5th Dynasty / Old Kingdom, ca. 2686β2181 BC. Find spot: Edfu. Dimensions: height 14.4 cm; rim diameter 5.4 cm; body diameter 8.4 cm., A single elongated earthenware vessel with a rounded shoulder and a narrow, slightly flaring rim, showing a rough, textured surface with small pits and irregularities; the vessel is predominantly brown with variations of lighter and darker brown tones and small patches of dull gray; the background is a flat, uniform gray.
