Vessel with hieratic inscription. Conical clay vessel tapering toward the bottom, irregular, widest at approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim; pointed bottom. Handcrafted; upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Smooth surface, externally probably covered with a layer of engobe. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on the lower part of the belly. Complete, well preserved. Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC. Comparative parallels cited in literature. Dimensions: height 12.9 cm; rim diameter 5.5 cm; body diameter 7.8 cm., A roughly spherical, weathered object with a textured, cracked surface sits centered against a plain background; its surface shows a mix of beige, tan, light brown, and faint reddish tones with darker brown speckles and small pits, and the object has irregular marks and patches of slightly darker and lighter coloration across its curved form.
