Vessel with hieratic inscription. Egyptian pottery. Conical clay vessel tapering toward the bottom, irregular, widest at approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim; pointed bottom. Handcrafted; upper part shoulders, neck, rim thrown on a wheel. Smooth surface, exterior probably covered with an engobe. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on the lower part of the belly. Complete and well preserved. Comparative parallels cited; previously dated to the Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC, from Edfu. Dimensions: height 12.9 cm; rim diameter 5.5 cm; body diameter 7.8 cm., A single elongated clay vessel with a rounded rim and tapering pointed base is shown against a plain neutral background; the surface of the vessel is rough and mottled with a mix of earthy tones including beige, tan, light brown, gray, and hints of reddish-brown, with a few darker speckles and patches of slightly darker brown visible across its body.
