Dagger, unknown Luristan workshop. Short dagger with a blade cast together with a mushroom-shaped hilt and a rimmed mount whose raised edges held a now-lost hilt casing possibly bone, wood, horn, or stone. In the central part of the mount, short arched sheet-metal protrusions are bent inward to secure the casing. The hilt merges directly into a lanceolate, double-edged blade with a central point. The base of the blade is a convex ring open at the bottom. A prominent ridge line runs through the center of the blade from tip to base, widening in the ring area to create a small convex triangular zone. 9th–6th century BC; Iron Age II 1st half of the 1st millennium BC. Luristan, Iran. Weapon. Height 24 cm; width 2.5 cm; depth 1.1 cm; weight 76 g., A long metal object with a narrow pointed blade and an elongated handle, shown vertically against a plain light gray background; the object appears dark gray with areas of lighter gray and subtle greenish and brownish patina, with a rounded tip on the blade, a central raised ridge along the blade, and a handle that widens slightly at the top and has curved decorative contours near the junction with the blade.
