Dagger, unknown Luristan workshop. A dagger with a blade cast together with a mushroom-shaped hilt, with a rimmed mount whose raised edges held a now-lost hilt casing possibly bone, wood, horn, or stone. In the central part of the mount, short arched sheet-metal protrusions are bent inward to secure the casing. The hilt merges directly into a lanceolate, double-edged blade with a central point. The base of the blade is a convex ring open at the bottom. A convex ridge with narrow lateral grooves runs along the blade from tip to base. 9th–6th century BC; Iron Period II end of the 2nd millennium–first half of the 1st millennium BC. Luristan, Iran. Height 28.5 cm; width 2.9 cm; thickness 1.1 cm; weight 116 g., A long metallic object is shown vertically against a pale background, with a dark gray to black surface and areas of lighter gray and brownish patches; the object tapers to a pointed tip and has a symmetrical, flattened blade with a central raised ridge; near the top a handle widens into a slightly flared grip with angular shoulders and a rounded junction to the blade, showing worn and textured metal with small speckles and irregular discoloration.
