Dagger, unknown Luristan workshop. A dagger with a blade cast together with a mushroom-shaped hilt, with a rimmed mount whose raised edges served to hold a hilt casing that has not been preserved. The casing may have been made of bone, wood, horn, or stone. In the central part of the mount, short arched sheet-metal protrusions are bent inward to secure the casing. The hilt merges directly into a lanceolate, double-edged blade with a central point. The base of the blade is in the form of a convex ring, open at the bottom. A convex ridge with narrow grooves on the sides runs through the center of the blade from tip to base. 9th–6th century BC; Iron Period II end of the 2nd millennium–first half of the 1st millennium BC.
