Votive obelisk with an inscription of King Ashurbanipal forgery with a copy of an ancient text, cuneiform writing, Ashurbanipal king of Assyria; ca. 668–ca. 631 BC, votive offering obelisk. Clay obelisk tapering toward the top with cuneiform text inscribed on all four faces. Dating of copied inscriptions: c. 668–c. 631 BC Neo-Assyrian period; object itself dated to 2nd half 19th century–1st half 20th century forgery. Inscription based on texts from Iraq Quyunjik, Nineveh. Function: dedication/document. Dimensions: height 13.1 cm; width 3.7 cm; thickness 4.2 cm., A tapered, upright stone object with a rough, weathered surface stands against a neutral light gray background; the object is primarily tan and brown with patches of darker brown and black discoloration and small areas of reddish coloration, and its surface shows numerous small triangular and wedge-shaped indentations arranged across the face; the top is irregular and slightly angled, the sides slope inward toward the top, and the base is wider and sits on a flat surface casting a faint shadow.
