Votive head, Madeyski, Antoni 1862-1939, 3rd–2nd century BC, Central Italy, sculpture; height 14.5 cm, width 9 cm, depth 8.5 cm, weight 0.5 kg, authenticity uncertain., A three-dimensional terracotta head viewed in profile with a few worn sculpted facial features including a nose, lips, chin, and a closed eye, showing a textured surface and areas of erosion. The head wears a molded headdress that extends down the back and sides, with a carved band or fold visible along the temple and a suggestion of stylized hair or feather-like ridges near the ear. The base is irregular and sits on a flat gray surface. The object displays a range of brown and tan tones with speckled darker brown and small pale spots, and there is a small area of red pigment near the base. The background is a uniform light gray.
