Figurine of Poseidon, unknown Roman workshop. Figurine of Poseidon standing in contrapposto, resting on a trident. The weight of the body rests on the left leg; the right is slightly moved back, the foot bent at the toes. The body is nude, correctly modeled, with clearly defined abdominal muscles. In the left hand the figure holds a trident; the right hand is lowered at the side of the body, holding a cylindrical object at hip level. The head is slightly bowed. The face is framed by long hair and a beard. 1st century, Roman Empire 27 BC–476. Bronze figurine, height 8.7 cm, width 3.5 cm, depth 1.8 cm, weight 0.362 kg with base., A small sculpted figure stands on a tall rectangular pedestal; the figure has a greenish patina with darker and lighter mottling and holds a long staff topped with a three-pronged shape, the staff appearing darker brown; the pedestal is a dark green and black mottled stone with lighter veining and sits on a stepped black base; the background is a smooth light gray.
