Figurine of Poseidon, unknown Roman workshop. Figurine of Poseidon standing in contrapposto, resting on a trident. The weight of the body rests on the left leg; the right is slightly moved back, the foot bent at the toes. The body is nude, correctly modeled, with clearly defined abdominal muscles. In the left hand the figure holds a trident; the right hand is lowered at the side of the body, holding a cylindrical object at hip level. The head is slightly bowed. The face is framed by long hair and a beard. 1st century, Roman Empire 27 BC–476. Bronze figurine; height 8.7 cm, width 3.5 cm, depth 1.8 cm, weight 0.362 kg with base., A small greenish bronze statuette of a bearded nude male figure stands on a tall rectangular dark green and black marble pedestal; the figure holds a long thin staff ending in a three-pronged spear and has a weathered patina with areas of darker and lighter green, while the pedestal shows veining in white and lighter green and rests on a stepped black base against a plain light gray background.
