Head of a woman wearing a veil. The face is oval with regular features: rounded chin, small compact mouth, slim cheeks. From the nose, skin folds extend diagonally downward across the cheeks. Eyes large, open, set deeply; thick upper and lower eyelids; outer and inner eye corners at same level; convex eyeballs with dimpled pupils. Eyebrows cylindrical, sloping toward the temples. Forehead high, convex above the nose, slightly sunken above the eyebrows. Hair lush, wavy, parted above the forehead and combed over the temples, revealing the lower parts of the ears. Head covered with a veil. Head in semi-profile. 1st half of the 4th century BC, Athens. Bas-relief; height 12 cm, width 11 cm, depth 11 cm., A carved stone head of a person with soft facial features and closed or slightly downcast eyes, wearing a draped cloth or hood that frames the face; the surface shows worn and weathered textures with chips and smoothing. The visible colors include off-white, beige, light tan, and small areas of pale brown, contrasted against a flat medium-gray background.
