Globular vessel, unknown Northern Mesopotamian workshop Khaburu Basin, vice-free vessel, Early Jazira III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC, vessel for oils and ointments, clay, Early Dynastic III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC, Al-Jazira Syria/Iraq, Mesopotamia, globular vessel with spherical belly merging at 3/4 height into short sloping handles and a narrow slightly flared neck; part of the neck and spout missing. Origin: Northern Mesopotamia Khabur basin, Tell Jassa el Gharbi north-eastern Syria. Vessel, height 13 cm, width 10.9 cm., A rounded, weathered clay vessel with a rough surface in shades of beige, tan, and light brown floats against a plain gray background; the vessel shows irregularities and surface blemishes, a chipped rim with a broken section, visible hairline cracks and repair lines, and a few small darker spots and lighter flecks across its body.
