Beaker with engraved decoration, unknown northern Mesopotamian workshop. Hand-made beaker on a thick, cylindrical stem with a poorly defined foot. The bowl is a low form with an irregularly defined rim, glued to the foot. Three schematically engraved human figures on the bowl: the torso with head and legs is a vertical line terminating in a dot at the top and a short arc opening downward at the bottom; the arms, extended upward, are marked by an engraved horizontal line curved at both ends that intersects the torso slightly below its midpoint. 1st half of the 3rd millennium BC; Early Jazira III period Early Bronze Period; Early Dynastic III period; ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC. Tell Abu Hafur northeastern Syria, Khabur basin; Northern Mesopotamia Khabur basin. Vessel; weight 148 g., A weathered, textured cup-like vessel with a wide bowl atop a narrow stem and a flared base, shown against a plain gray background. The object has an uneven, rough surface with visible cracks, pits, and small holes, and some areas show chipped or eroded edges. The surface texture appears grainy with irregular indentations and faint linear marks. The colors visible are various shades of beige and tan with lighter off-white specks and slightly darker brownish spots.
