Foot-shaped aryballos, aryballos, antique vessel. Yellow-orange clay with mica; matte black engobe on the surface. Shaped like a foot shod in a sandal with a thick sole connected to braided leather straps. The foot ends above the ankle and merges into a narrow neck terminating in an outward-turned rim, decorated from above with radiating lines. A wide, ribbon-like handle is attached vertically to the spout, on which there is an image of a rooster surrounded by dots. Preservation condition: the front part of the foot is filled with plaster. End of the 6th–beginning of the 5th century BC. Made in an Ionian workshop; found in Ionia/Turkey/Greece., A worn, hollow object shaped like a curved vessel rests against a plain gray background; the object shows a beige and tan exterior with patches of darker brown and lighter cream tones, a rough textured inner cavity filled with a sandy, muted yellow-beige material, and areas of surface abrasion and small chips along the rim and edges.
