Foot-shaped aryballos, aryballos, antique vessel. Yellow-orange clay with mica; matte black engobe on the surface. Shaped as a foot shod in a sandal with a thick sole connected to braided leather straps. The foot ends above the ankle and merges into a narrow neck terminating in an outward-turned rim, decorated from above with radiating lines. A wide, ribbon-like handle is attached vertically to the spout, bearing an image of a rooster surrounded by dots. Preservation condition: the front part of the foot is filled with plaster. End of the 6th–beginning of the 5th century BC. Ionia, Turkey/Greece., Ionian workshop., A worn sculpted object resembling a boot shape sits against a plain gray background, showing a textured surface with carved patterns and a few incised lines. The piece displays a mottled palette of beige, tan, and light brown with darker brown and black smudges and spots in several areas, especially near the upper section. The surface appears rough and weathered with visible cracks and uneven edges, and a subtle reflection of the object is visible on the smooth gray surface beneath it.
