Foot-shaped aryballos, aryballos, antique vessel; yellow-orange clay with mica; matte black engobe on the surface. Shaped as a foot shod in a sandal with a thick sole connected to braided leather straps. The foot ends above the ankle and merges into a narrow neck terminating in an outward-turned rim, decorated from above with radiating lines. A wide, ribbon-like handle is attached vertically to the spout, bearing an image of a rooster surrounded by dots. Preservation condition: the front part of the foot is filled with plaster. End of the 6th–beginning of the 5th century BC. Ionia, Turkey/Greece. Maker, Ionian workshop., A sculpted object shaped like a shoe or boot sits against a plain gray background, showing a weathered surface in shades of beige, tan, brown, and some darker blackened areas; the toe area is smoother and lighter beige with faint carved lines, while the upper and heel display rougher, textured carving with layered ridges and scale-like patterns in tan and brown; a short vertical shaft rises at the back with a flat, squared top and a rectangular handle-like extension, the shaft featuring a band of darker black markings near its top; the piece rests on a slightly raised sole that echoes the beige and tan tones and creates a subtle reflection on the smooth surface beneath it.
